Ways of Dealing with Work Stress in 10 Steps

Personnel working in justice institutions often encounter stressful situations due to the nature of their jobs. Although it is not always possible to change working conditions, it is possible to try to properly cope with work-related stress by making some changes in daily life practices.

Let’s look at the ways of dealing with work stress in 10 steps.

1.Eat Well

Psychological health is directly related to physical health. Scientists have proved the positive effects of regular nutrition on human psychology. You can reduce the negative effects of work stress by regular diet and paying attention to timing.

2.Sleep Well

Research shows that an adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep per day. It is known that the most productive sleep hours for the human body are between 11:00 pm. and 03:00 am. Take care to sleep between these hours. It is easier for an individual who is well fed and sleepy to cope with work stress.

3.Move

Make physical exercise an important part of your life. There is an inseparable relationship between body and mind, taking good care of your body will be good for your soul. Basic relaxation movements, especially in very stressful moments, will suppress the physical changes that triggered by stress.

4.Discover Yourself

Be careful about your stress level. Everyone has an optimum level of stress, the stress that reaches this level is beneficial, but when it exceeds it, it harms the both body and soul. Try to maintain this level. When you feel that you cannot protect yourself, you should use methods to relax yourself. For example, you can close your eyes for 1 minute, take a deep breath, and calm yourself down.

5.Use Free Time

Take care to use your breaks. Make a change even if it is just a room change during breaks; get away from your environment for a short time. Changing your environment will have a positive effect on your mood.

6.Share

Tell your trusted colleagues how the job affects you, and do not be afraid to share your feelings. Sharing will reduce your burden and remind you that you are not alone.

7.Practice Relaxation Techniques

Take advantage of relaxation techniques during the day. Breathing exercises, basic movements that you can do even in your chair, and verbal meditations that you can apply to yourself will help you cope with stress.

8.Put Limits

You are not a superhero! Be aware that what you can do is limited. Remember that you are not a superhero, you can have limits and limitations. Remind yourself of this often.

9.Join Activities

Participate in activities that will strengthen your relationship with the people around you. Try to find activities that will keep your mind off work and make you feel good. In particular, creative activities such as painting, writing, playing a musical instrument will make you encounter a side of you that you have not encountered before and will surprise you positively.

10.Spend Time with Families

Do not forget to spend time with your family and friends. Remember, spending time with our loved ones is the most effective medicine.
