Substance Addiction

Substance addiction is the use of substances that adversely affect the functions of the body, and the inability to stop using these substances even though it is damaged.

When the addict takes a break from substance use, he or she experiences withdrawal symptoms. Increases the frequency and dose of substance use over time.

Judicial Control

Judicial control is the implementation of some measures, instead of arresting the suspect or the accused, during the investigation phase and the prosecution process for a crime. Provisions regarding judicial control may also be applied in cases where detention law is stipulated in the law. These measures, which are given for adults under the third paragraph of Article 109 of the Criminal Procedure Code, can be given to children within the scope of Article 20 of the Child Protection Law as well as this Law.

Persons who are tried for a crime and have not yet been proven to have committed a crime are still considered innocent according to the presumption of innocence. However, in order to maintain the trial process in a healthy manner, detention or judicial control measures are applied when necessary in accordance with the legislation.

CRIMINAL RECORD

The system in which information about criminal and security measures is recorded based on a finalised court decision is called “criminal record”.

Potential employers and others to assess a person’s trustworthiness may use a criminal record. Criminal records may also be used in international travel permissions, and for the sentencing of persons who commit additional criminal offences.

DEFERMENT OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF VERDICT

If the sentence given to the accused is imprisonment of 2 years or less or a judicial fine, the court may decide, under certain circumstances, to defer the announcement of the verdict for 5 years. This decision is called deferment of the announcement of the verdict. Deferring the announcement of the verdict means that the established verdict does not have any legal consequences for the accused.

REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation means the use of all necessary tools to compensate for the losses caused by the illness and to return to the society as a healthy individual.

Rehabilitation, which means the set of treatments necessary to prevent the addicted person from returning to substance use, is of great importance in the fight against addiction. Rehabilitation treatment can be applied in two ways as outpatient or inpatient.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The most common type of violence against women is domestic violence. Even if the victim and assaulter do not share the same household, domestic violence refers to all kinds of physical, sexual, psychological, and economic abuses applied to women by family members (spouse, fiancee, father, older brother, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, grandfather).

COCAINE

Cocaine is derived from a plant that grows naturally in South America. Cocaine, which is obtained from the plant called Erythroxylon coca and whose leaves are chewed by the locals, has a high addictive effect. Even a single dose can cause serious harm to the body and create psychological dependence.

OPEN PENITENTIARY INSTITUTION

Open penitentiary institutions are institutions where priority is given to the rehabilitation, employment and vocational training of convicts, there are no barriers to escape, and there are no external security guards, and the supervision and control of the institution’s officers is satisfied in terms of security.

What is Probation?

Probation is an execution system in which suspects, suspects and convicts are supervised and followed up in the community, the services, programs and resources needed for their improvement are provided, and it aims to prevent re-offending and to protect the community.

PUBLIC LAWSUIT

Lawsuits filed in the event of committing a crime on issues that concern the society such as public order, public health, and general morality are called public lawsuits. Public lawsuits are the lawsuits filed by the public prosecutor on behalf of the public in order to punish the crime committed in case of harm to the public or the state.

What is the Substance Withdrawal

Physiological and cognitive symptoms that occur when a substance that is used intensively for a long time decreases in blood and tissue levels is called substance withdrawal.

After withdrawal symptoms, the person needs to use the substance to alleviate or avoid these symptoms. Although it varies according to the substance used and physical condition, the negative effects of substance withdrawal can be overcome with the support of a physician.

POSTPONING THE OPENING OF A PUBLIC ACTION

Instead of filing a public lawsuit with an indictment, although there is sufficient suspicion to file a public lawsuit, the Public Prosecutor’s postponement of filing a lawsuit against the suspect for a period of 5 years is called “postponing the opening of a public action”.

TOLERANCE

When some drugs are used continuously, the intensity of their effects decreases rapidly or slowly, and their duration is shortened. For this reason, the user feels the need to increase the dose of the substance. The dose used before begins to be insufficient. Tolerance occurs up to a certain ceiling level, then stops.

CANNABIS

Cannabis is the most widely used drug in the world. It is in colour tones close to green brown and is traded in a form resembling dried leaves. Its active ingredient is delta-9 tétrahydrocannabinol (THC).

OVERDOSE

Overdose means the introduction into the body of a greater amount of substance than it can withstand and as a result may occur particularly dangerous reactions in the body: unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, and cardiovascular failure, each of which can lead to coma or death.

CLOSED PENITENTIARY INSTITUTION

Closed penitentiary institutions are institutions that have internal and external security guards, are equipped with technical, mechanical, electronic or physical barriers against escape, and their room and corridor doors are kept closed.
