As BAŞARI Project, we held the 5-day “Training of Trainers on Drug Addiction and Drug Offences for Judges and Prosecutors” on 30 November-4 December 2022 in Antalya.
Judges and prosecutors from the Court of Cassation, district courts in Ankara, Gaziantep, Antalya and Van, courthouses of Konya, Van, Istanbul and Izmir attended the training, with participation also of representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Turkish Justice Academy.
A series of legal subjects have been discussed, such as ways to improve investigations on drug offences, the distinction between drug trafficking and drug use-possession offences, and unifying the practices of regional courts of appeal. Alongside legal topics, other topics have been approached in areas pertaining to drug awareness and gender sensitive approach to drug addicts, to broaden the perspective when dealing with addiction and drug offences.
